Project CHISPA

Project CHISPA — Calculation, Hi-tech, Imagination, Systems, Procedural, Art — was a project which aimed to provide middle school students with an opportunity to learn how math, science, and coding are a bridge to creating the fantastic environments they enjoy in video games and films. It is described in this A&M article.

The objective was to introduce 3D concepts and using video game & animation software. In this case we worked cooperativly with middle school students in industry software, including Maya, Unreal & Houdini. As a tech lead, it was my job to create all of the cirriculum for the project. I worked with another lead to create Maya scenes, procedural Houdini Assets, and Unreal Levels for the kids to build their own enviornment. This included creating assets and creating a cirriculum of lessons for the middle school students to follow with us during COVID.
